In addition to posting up this week's free song and video's, we also signed up for FID (Free iTunes Downloads) up for FeedBurner. If you'd rather use FeedBurner feeds instead of the normal Blogger atom feeds, then add our new FeedBurner feed. I haven't played around with it much to see the difference, but it looks much prettier when you click on it than the old Blogger feed!

Create & Devastate ft Masta Ace and Stricklin - The Hit Man

"Dedicated crate-diggers, the Swedish production duo known as Create & Devastate have cut and spliced enough beats and found enough hooks to make them certified block-rockers back home Helsingburg. Now With Free Videos!

We started this site to help others keep up to date with free song downloads from the ITMS, and while we do not have an iPod capable of video ourselves (we have a trusty 4G b+w model), we know that some of you may also be interested in downloading the free videos when they are available.

So from now on, we will also post up free videos that we can find on the ITMS US. We're not quite sure when they show up and how long they're free for (maybe if you know, you can leave a comment to tell us), so download them as soon as you have the chance. Oh yeah we'll also put a [Video] in the title so you can tell the difference between songs and videos.

Thanks to Anonymous for suggesting this to us in previous commments ;)

Guillemots - Trains To Brazil

"Named after a curious sort of bird, London's Guillemots do their own fair share of feather-strutting on 'Trains to Brazil,' the group's second single. Many caught wind of the euphoric pop act when they opened for Rufus Wainwright last year. That initial press and the strength of their first single put them in the running for 2006's 'it' band. 'Trains to Brazil' is a buzzing, jangling bit of joyful pop and we're proud to have it as our free Single of the Week." -- iTunes Music Store

When Do We Update?

In case you are wondering when our blog updates, the iTunes Music Store (ITMS) changes their free singles every Tuesday, so we will let you know about them shortly after that. Also, if we find out about other ways to get free singles (such as this previous post -- which unfortunately no longer works) we will blog them right away.

Each free download will be free for approximately a week (until the ITMS updates their singles again), so if you wait too long after that then you will have to pay the usual 99¢.

Editors - Munich

"The United Kingdom's Editors build a wall of incessant guitar that could easily be mistaken for the earliest sounds of U2. On 'Munich,' vocalist Tom Smith commands the song with a voice that could pass for the offspring of Interpol's Paul Banks and avant-crooner Scott Walker. The singular energy and moodiness of Editors make them perfect for our free Single of the Week." -- iTunes Music Store

Gary Nichols - i Can't Love You Anymore

"Gary Nichols knows his soul music. Raised in Alabama, Nichols has been performing since he became a teenager. His upbringing was steeped in the sounds of Muscle Shoals - the Alabama recording studio whose classic style has become synonymous with soul music - and his own playing and performing is a swampy mixture of Wilson Pickett and Texas blues guitarist Steve Ray Vaughan. 'I Can't Love You Anymore' is our free Discovery Download." -- iTunes Music Store

Assassin - In Da Club

"Jamaica's Jeffrey Campbell goes by the name of Assassin when he's busting out with his bold dancehall style. "In Da Club" is a laid-back anthem of righteousness for those who don't let a little debt keep them from spending all of their money. Mixing up bits of comedy and social criticism, Assassin keeps his wit sharp and his beats sharper. "In Da Club" is our free Discovery Download." -- iTunes Music Store

Dolly Parton - Travelin' Thru

"The bedazzling country music icon is nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song, thanks to her anthemic, gospel-tinged track "Travelin' Thru" (from the comedy/drama Transamerica.) Parton has been in the Oscar spotlight before - back in 1981, when "9 to 5" struck a chord with those caught up in the working week. Curious about this year's track? Nine Black Alps - Cosmopolitan (Explicit)

"With their dark, combustible, exhausting guitar pop and their name nicked from a line in a Sylvia Plath poem, Manchester's Nine Black Alps can't exactly be called on to bring the sunshine. They can, however, bring an element of danger to those who dwell in the post-punk fringes. The ragged, razor-sharp "Cosmopolitan" is our free Single of the Week." -- iTunes Music Store
