"The Kentucky Kid chronicles the life of pro motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden as he wins the 2006 MotoGP World Championship and defends his title in the 2007 season. Nicky, a 25-year-old Motorcycle Grand Prix racer from rural Owensboro, Kentucky, started riding at the age of three, and has been racing since he was five. Nicky turned pro in 1997 and in 2002 was the youngest rider in the 27-year history of AMA to win the U.S. Superbike Championship.

Nicky comes from a closely knit family of racers and their support and guidance have helped him to become the World Champ. He chooses to stay close to his friends and family and calls Owensboro, Kentucky, home. Owensboro helps keep Nicky humble, focused, and close to his family, who play an important role in his life as he ravels from rural America to race around the world - from Qatar to China and everywhere in between.

Episode Summary

I live an hour away from Owensboro and it's not exactly rural. It's population is 55,525 which is to many to be rural.
