[music] Real Estate - It's Real

"Listening to Real Estate makes us feel like we’re walking on a sunny beach, staring onto the ocean through a Super 8 lens—mist kissing our foreheads, cool sand wiggling through our toes. The surf-pop band’s dreamy self-titled 2009 debut introduced us to its cozy, hazy, slightly psychedelic tunes—often instrumental jams that swirl about, reminding us of elements of Beach House, Beach Fossils, and Ducktails (a.k.a. Matthew Mondanile, who’s also in Real Estate). After quenching our thirst for more with 2010’s Reality – EP, the foursome return with Days. It’s Real is one of the album’s many highlights—one of the more upbeat numbers that showcases the New Jersey group’s increasingly plush sound (read: less lo-fi than its earlier work). Real Estate’s cooing, high-register harmonies are like waves rolling atop an effervescent guitar riff as the lyrics ponder life’s direction—affirming that the answers may be unknown, but what feels real are simple, earthy pursuits: carving names in trees, walking across decomposing leaves, and skating on frozen seas." -- iTunes Store

Real Estate’s cooing, high-register harmonies are like ocean moving on top of an effervescent instrument coat as the words consider daily direction—affirming that the solutions may be mysterious, but what believes real are simple, natural activities.
