[audiobook] Mayflower: Preface and Chapter 1

"How did America begin? This is the simple question that launches acclaimed author Nathaniel Philbrick on an extraordinary journey to understand the truth behind our most sacred national myth: the voyage of the Mayflower and the settlement of Plymouth Colony. As Philbrick reveals in this electrifying new book, the story of the Pilgrims does not end with the First Thanksgiving; instead, it is a 55-year epic that is at once tragic, heroic, and exhilarating, and still carries meaning for us today.

That crucial half-century from 1620 to 1626 began in peril, ended in war, and contained the seeds of what would come to define America and its inexorable push west. Philbrick salutes the real courage of the Puritan true believers, willing to risk all for their religious convictions, as well as generosity of the Native Americans. But he also evokes the terrible fury of Kin Philip's War in chilling and riveting detail.

I don't know if you were aware or not, but Berkley now offers classes on iTunes. Looks like they have even more stuff than Stanford.
